India vs Australia, 3rd Women’s ODI Highlights: India Suffer 0-3 Whitewash Against Australia With 190-Run Loss

IND-W vs AUS-W, 3rd ODI Highlights: India failed to avoid a 0-3 series whitewash against Australia after losing the third women’s ODI by 190 runs on Tuesday. Chasing a daunting 333, India folded for 148 in 32.4 Overs. Deepti Sharma (25 not out), Smriti Mandhana (29), Jemimah Rodrigues (25), Richa Ghosh (19) and Pooja Vastrakar (14) couldn’t capitalise on their starts as India’s batting completely fell apart. Earlier, Opener Phoebe Litchfield struck 119 off 125 balls, while skipper Alyssa Healy made an 85-ball 82 as Australia posted an imposing 338 for seven against India. This was Australia’s highest total against India, bettering the previous best of 332/7 in 2018. Off-spinner Shreyanka Patil was the most successful bowler for India, finishing with figures of 3/57.

Here are the highlights of the 3rd ODI between India Women and Australia Women from the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

  1. We are back with the run chase. The umpires walk to the middle followed by the Australian women’s side who settle to their respective field positions. Smriti Mandhana and Yastika Bhatia are the two openers for India Women. While Megan Schutt will open the bowling for Australia Women!… RUN CHASE …
  2. !The Indian bowlers were put under pressure by the Australian batters but they did well in the middle phase and pulled things back a bit. Shreyanka Patil was the pick of the bowlers as she picked up 3 wickets while Amanjot Kaur picked up a couple. Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma took a wicket each as well. The pitch looks dry and it will assist the spinners a bit but if dew comes the batters would enjoy it as it would get difficult for the bowlers to grip the ball. An exciting run chase to follow in a while.
  3. !The centurion, Phoebe Litchfield is in for a chat. She says that it was a very good wicket to bat on and she was patient on the pitch. She also states that there were a lot of scoring opportunities as four fielders were outside the inner circle. Also says that she was a bit nervous in her nineties but the end went well. She thought they could push a bit more but a few wickets in the middle pushed them back. She feels that they finished well and she also praises the way Alana King and Georgia Wareham played at the end.
  4. !Skipper Alyssa Healy would be delighted with the way her side has responded after she asked them to bat first as they scored 338 runs in their quota of 50 overs. After opting to bat first, the Aussies started a bit watchfully but with some positive intent as they scored 55 without losing any wicket off the Powerplay and did not let go of any loose delivery. The opening stand was brilliant between Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield as they managed to score 189 together. Phoebe Litchfield held her ground well and scored a well-crafted century as she went on to score 119 runs while Alyssa Healy did well with the bat too as she scored 82. Ellyse Perry walked in at number but could not do much and it was the same case with Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath but Ashleigh Gardner and Annabel Sutherland played key knocks. As she did in the last game, Alana King played a quickfire cameo so did Georgia Wareham to take Australia Women to 338.
  5. 49.64POOJA VASTRAKAR TO ALANA KINGFOUR! Cut away and Alana King picks up a boundary to end the innings! Pace on now, short and outside off, Alana King frees her arms and cuts it wide of point for a boundary. Australia Women end up with 338 on the board!
  6. 49.56POOJA VASTRAKAR TO ALANA KINGSIX! Too short and Alana King jumps all over it! Pooja Vastrakar drops it way too short, slower as well, over middle, Alana King waits for it and deposits the pull over deep square leg for a maximum. This is Australia Women’s highest ODI score against India!
  7. 49.41POOJA VASTRAKAR TO GEORGIA WAREHAMA direct hit there and Georgia Wareham was a goner! Slower and shorter, on middle, Georgia Wareham bunts it to the right of the bowler and sets off for the single. Pooja Vastrakar picks it up but misses the shy at her end, allowing Wareham to complete the single.
  8. 49.31POOJA VASTRAKAR TO ALANA KINGSwitches to over the wicket and bowls it on a back of a length, on middle, Alana King punches it to long on for a single.
  9. 49.31 wdPOOJA VASTRAKAR TO ALANA KINGWIDE! Comes from around the wicket but loses her radar as she bowls a full toss, way outside off, left alone by Alana King. The two Aussie batters think it should have been a no ball as it pitched outside the strip but the umpire thinks otherwise.
  10. 49.26POOJA VASTRAKAR TO ALANA KINGSIX! In the slot and out of the park! Pooja Vastrakar misses her mark and serves it right in the slot, around off, Alana King waits deep in her crease and smacks it over wide long on for a biggie.
  11. 49.10POOJA VASTRAKAR TO ALANA KINGVastrakar serves it on a back of a length, outside off, Alana King punches it along the ground towards extra cover. It goes straight to the fielder and there is a yes-no situation between the two batters for the single. They eventually decide not to take the single and Alana King gets back in time before Richa Ghosh collects it and dislodges the bails.
  12. 48.60SHREYANKA PATIL TO GEORGIA WAREHAMAnother well-executed yorker, on off, Georgia Wareham tries to force it through the off side but gets it off the toe-end and the ball rolls beside the pitch.
