India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja said that his celebration after taking Bangladesh wicket-keeping batter Mushfiqur Rahim’s catch was directed to India’s fielding coach T Dilip. India restricted Bangladesh to 256 for 8 in the first innings at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

Speaking at the mid-innings break, Jadeja said there’s not a lot of turn on the wicket, adding that if India play simple cricket, they can chase down the target. Jadeja claimed two wickets while giving away 38 runs in 10 overs in Pune.

“I think the wicket is very good. There was no turn on the wicket so I think if we play normal simple cricket then we could go through. You have to bowl into the stump. You cannot bowl here and there because there is nothing in the wicket as a spinner. You need to bowl a tight line,” said Jadeja.

Speaking about his celebration after taking Mushfiqur’s catch, Jadeja said the celebration was directed towards India’s fielding coach. Jadeja took a brilliant catch to get rid of Mushfiqur, as Bangladesh lost their sixth wicket at 201.

“I think that celebration was for our fielding coach because after every game we get the best fielder award from him so I was just telling him that I am also here so please look at me whenever we finish the game,” Jadeja added.

Jadeja gestured to fielding coach T Dilip to keep in mind when awarding the ‘best fielder medal’ later in the day. Jadeja took a sensational catch in the point region in Jasprit Bumrah’s 7th over in their World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh.

Jasprit Bumrah dived to his right and took a blinder as he sent back Bangladesh’s dangerous middle-order batter and former captain Mushfiqur Rahim for 38. Jadeja took the catch and turned toward the fielding coach, who was standing along the boundary rope and gestured a medal. Dilip acknowledged Jadeja’s gesture and applauded the effort from the all-rounder.
